Welcome to Cambridge Ashtanga Yoga

A Cambridge-based yoga community for folks with any level of experience, including those new to the mat

  • Self-practice: Monday & Thursday 7-9am

  • Teaching: Tuesday & Friday 8-9am

Teaching

We teach ashtanga yoga from 8-9am on Tuesdays and Fridays at the University Centre Main Hall (2nd floor) on Granta Place (https://g.co/kgs/uvvGjA2).

Beginners are absolutely welcome. Ashtanga is a great practice for those new to yoga as each student receives personalized instruction to suit their body and breath. Our Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga course is taught over four sessions, and we offer this entirely for free - just get in touch below.

Our style of teaching involves hands-on adjustments as well as verbal cues. However, you are always free to let us know if you would prefer to not receive adjustments for any posture at any time without needing to give a reason. Our priority is that class is safe and comfortable for you, so we will always respect your preferences.

For those with any level of ashtanga experience, whether Cambridge residents or visitors, our ongoing Mysore-style classes are taught at the same time (Tuesdays/Fridays 8-9am). We'd love for you to join to receive traditional assists and support in the primary series.

About us

Ricky has been practicing ashtanga since 2015 at shalas in San Francisco, Taipei, and London, and trained to teach the primary series at Astanga Yoga London.

Tara completed her yoga teacher training in Rishikesh in 2015, and has been practicing Mysore ashtanga since 2020.

We are siblings and hope that these classes will grow the ashtanga community in Cambridge.

Self-Practice

Ashtanga is a style of yoga perfectly suited to self-practice, as we move through a set sequence at our own pace in time with our breath. But self-practice doesn't mean we have to practice alone!

A self-practice community is a great way to support each other and share our yoga journeys. If you already know the ashtanga sequence, why not drop by one morning to practice with us?

We're a friendly group always looking to make new yogi friends. You are welcome to come in with any level of practice that you are comfortable doing without teacher guidance.

How it works

We do self-practice together two days a week, Mondays and Thursdays from 7am to 9am, at 38 Newmarket Road (inside the lovely Cambridge Buddhist Centre).

Members can choose between a full (£40/month) or half (£20/month) subscription, which goes fully towards rent.

You are very welcome to come for a free trial session to see the space and get a sense of how we practice. Drop us an email to let us know when to expect you.
